Sun and Moon

This mirror was created as a Christmas gift to my daughter’s new caregiver back in 2016.
She, herself, is an artist, so it made sense to make this gift a collaborative project. We were inspired by a design that would represent her unique story. We settled on the idea of the sun and moon with seven flowers hidden in the moon, representing the seven small people in her life, including my daughter, Heather. I recall that piecing the mosaic together went quickly.
She was new to our family back then, and working on an art project together added another layer of understanding between us, a special connection. Over the last few years, I have come to lean on her artistic talents on occasion as we have stayed in touch. Although she is no longer Heather’s caregiver, I still love keeping track of her and her family’s adventures. It is gratifying to know that this art piece lives on, capturing this special time in each of our life journeys.
